Office Cleaning Checklist for Dubai: Daily to Monthly

This office cleaning checklist fixes that. It is split into daily, weekly and monthly tasks, written for Dubai conditions, and built so you can hand it to any cleaning company as the scope of work. How to use this checklist

Walk the office with the list in hand. For every zone, decide three things: which tasks apply, how often they should happen, and who checks them. A ten-person office with no meeting rooms needs a shorter list than a client-facing suite on Sheikh Zayed Road, and the frequency should differ by zone, not just by office. Washrooms are daily everywhere. A meeting room used twice a month is not.

When the list is marked up, it is no longer a checklist. It is a written scope, and it is the most useful thing you can give a cleaning provider before asking for a price.

Daily office cleaning tasks

Dubai adds one rule to every daily list: dust settles on horizontal surfaces overnight, even in sealed towers. Desks that are not wiped daily look neglected by Wednesday.

Workstations and open-plan areas

• Desks wiped around (not through) personal items
• Keyboards, phones and screen frames dust-wiped; screens with a dry microfibre cloth only
• Chair seats and armrests wiped
• Bins emptied, liners replaced

Washrooms

• Full vacuum including edges, under desks where accessible, and behind doors
• Hard floors cleaned corner to corner, not just the walkways
• Dusting above eye level: shelving, cabinet tops, signage, picture frames
• AC supply and return grilles wiped. Surface dust on grilles is a cleaning task; the ducts behind them are a separate specialist service and should not be assumed in any cleaning scope
• Internal glass partitions and doors cleaned fully, not spot-cleaned
• Pantry: fridge interior wiped, cupboard fronts cleaned, coffee machine exterior and drip tray cleaned, out-of-date items flagged (not discarded unless agreed)
• Washrooms: tile grout brushed, behind and under fixtures cleaned, extractor grille wiped
• Meeting room chairs vacuumed, cable trays and table legs dusted

• Plants and planters dusted

Monthly office cleaning tasks

• Skirting boards, door frames and the tops of doors
• Light fittings and diffusers, surface only, and only where safely reachable
• Blinds dusted or wiped; curtains vacuumed
• Upholstered chairs vacuumed thoroughly. Stain treatment and extraction are specialist work outside a routine scope
• Under and behind furniture that can be moved safely
• Walls spot-cleaned at hand height, around switches and along corridors
• Storage rooms and stationery cupboards dusted and tidied
• Pantry: oven and microwave cleaned inside, behind and under appliances, kettle descaled. Dubai's hard water leaves limescale within weeks
• Washrooms: taps and fittings descaled, silicone joints checked for mould

Quarterly and as-needed

• Window cleaning: internal glass is part of most scopes; external cleaning depends on building rules and height and is often handled by building management
• A full deep clean before an audit, after a fit-out or after a busy season
• Post-event cleaning if the office hosts clients or staff events
• Carpet extraction by a specialist when vacuuming no longer lifts the traffic lanes

What makes Dubai offices different

Dust. Fine desert and construction dust gets past every seal. The daily desk wipe is the difference between an office that looks cared for and one that does not.

Air conditioning. AC runs year-round, so grilles and the ceiling around them show a dust line faster than anywhere else in the room. Wipe grilles weekly and you avoid the grey halo.

Sand at the door. A two-mat system, a scraper outside and an absorbent mat inside, both vacuumed daily, keeps most of it at the entrance.

Summer humidity. Washroom extractors work harder from May to September. Check silicone joints and grout weekly for mould and keep the extractor grilles clear.

Hard water. Limescale builds on taps, kettles, dishwashers and shower fittings. Descaling belongs on the monthly list, not the annual one.

Prayer rooms. Many Dubai offices have one. Vacuum the carpet daily, keep the shoe area clear, and avoid strongly fragranced products in that space.

Waste rules. Most towers now separate recyclables. Ask building management for their rules and write them into the scope so the cleaning team follows them.

How often should an office in Dubai be cleaned?

There is no single answer, but there are sensible defaults:

• Client-facing offices, or fifteen people and up: the daily list every working day
• Small offices under ten people with low footfall: the daily list two or three times a week, with washrooms and the pantry still checked daily by someone in-house
• Coworking and shared floors: daily as a minimum, with high-touch points wiped twice a day at peak
• Meeting rooms: match the booking calendar; a room used daily is cleaned daily, a room used monthly is cleaned after use
